Last week Mitrefinch had the pleasure of exhibiting during the Festival of Payroll – an annual event organized by the Canadian Payroll Association in Edmonton.
The show provided us with an opportunity to speak to a large number of HR and payroll professionals on the challenges involved in fulfilling their ever-growing business demands. We noted that our visitors were mentioning three key reasons for seeking out an automated time and attendance solution:
- To minimize administration time
- To reduce human errors when transferring data
- To stay in compliance with workplace legislation
One of the features within our TMS software, intuitive Report Wizard functionality, which we were demoing during the show gathered an exceptional number of spectators. This user-friendly guide explains step by step how to create your own reports within seconds, helping you save time and requiring no additional knowledge of other report-designing systems such as Crystal reports.
Our prize draw also grabbed a lot of attention with a chance to win a bottle of bubbles.
Many thanks to everyone who took part in the draw! Congratulations to two ladies who won the champagnes! I hope you enjoy it :)
The Festival also brought a chance for many payroll professionals to receive an update on current legislation through a series of educational sessions including payroll and policy changes, employment standards, pension plan changes as well as termination process rules.
The seminars were a chance to brush up on payroll knowledge whereas an opening keynote worked on unlocking our potential.
The keynote was given by the respected Dr. Amirault-Ryan, a performance consultant and a lead specialist in the field of sport psychology for the 2010 Canadian Olympic Committee. Her speech made us cry with laugher but also drove us to think about living the philosophy of embracing challenges and pushing the boundaries to achieve more every day.
According to her findings, lasting change and growth happen when we uncover our unique strengths, break-down self-imposed limitations, and remain focused on our short-term and long-term goals – even in the face of the most unexpected and complex challenges.
Building a wall around ourselves creates a prison for our thoughts and does not help to achieve personal and professional excellence.
The keynote also encouraged listeners not be afraid of change and create the lives they want.
All in all, we very much enjoyed our time spent at the CPA's show.
